Explore nature near you and improve local ecosystems as a Youth Steward! Our Youth Stewards program gives students the opportunity to connect with one another, learn about nature, and make a positive impact in their community. Stewards gain experience in caring for local wildlife habitat, removing invasive plants, practicing naturalist observation skills, and more!

The Youth Stewards program is made possible entirely by grants and donations from individuals. You can support this program by becoming a Youth Steward Sponsor. Learn more about sponsorship here.

“The Summer Stewards program has given me an invaluable opportunity to connect with the natural world, make new friends with similar interests, and learn about our watershed from passionate members of the Grassroots team—all at the same time! Spending my Thursdays outdoors with my cohort has benefitted my mental, emotional, and physical well-being in the midst of the pandemic. I’m so grateful to Grassroots for offering this program and teaching me so much about our local ecosystems.”

-Abigail (Bol Park, Palo Alto)
